Yoga while sitting?

Posted by Ashley Nicole Patient Expert

Does anyone have any advice about doing yoga while sitting?

I cant seem to find much information online.

At the moment I cant do anything involving hips or knee. It really limits the options. No standing at all.

If anyone knows any exercies, please let me know!

Let's see-yoga while sitting?

Meditation.

But as I think that's not what you're after....gomukasana arms? Eagle arms? Hips and Knees are involved in most sitting poses, even forward fold. Everything pulls on everything else, tight knees can be affected by tght hamstrings, tight quads, tight calves. It's all connected. My suggestion? If you can't stretch your body, work on your meditation.

Well, I've seen yoga ads aimed toward senior citizens, where they are able to work out while sitting.

Or people who have had surgery.

Light pulling, and stretching would be fine, as long as the joints dont have to bear weight.

They do have "chair yoga" for seniors. Most seniors can't get all the way down to the ground and back up again with ease. I saw a video some time ago, I think you can find one on netflix.

In a chair Ashley? Sure.

Bharadvajasana (seated twist)

Garudasana arms

Gomukhasana arms

Parvatasana
