For me, I've learned that yoga is an awareness practice and awareness can only be fully experienced through the process of feeling. Since feeling becomes exponentially more difficult with rapid movement I prefer an asana practice (as that is what you are asking, right?) that allows self-exploration without hurry. While some mistake this for "static" it is merely stable. The body is only static when it is no longer living.
This having been said I prefer an alignment-based practice that allows me the exploration and discovery of self that Sri Aurobindo speaks of as the catalyst for evolving mankind.
