Teresa Hererra has been subbing classes @ TruYoga Santa Monica the past couple of weeks. I made it to her 7:15 PM class last night , a wee bit "knackered" as the Brits would say, from work.
Heading into Tru's space is quite different from the vibe that I have become accustomed to @ SMPY. As it is located in the Yahoo Center Santa Monica, I always feel like I am headed into a web developer or ecommerce site meeting. Once past the semi /gym like reception area, the studio space becomes more tranquil with a view of the inner garden courtyard.
Teresa's class was themed perfectly for a Monday evening. She opened by adressing several chakras ( anahata, muladara ) ; good thing my Sanskrit 101 did not fail me. More emphasis was put on vinyasa and asana linked with breathing vs. long holds and balancing. Her background as a dancer is in evidence when she flows effortlessly with the class , perfect for clearing the cobwebs of the mind out.
The other crucial element to a chilled out ( my analogy ) dusk session is the soundtrack, and she has the right tunes synched to link the vinyasas. It was powerful practice, and I got to meet the other source of energy in the room, Darlene D' Arezzo, after savasana.
"T" will be teaching next Monday once again , 7 pm @ TruYoga -
