Normal is not something to
aspire to, it's something to get away from. -Jodie
In her book, " My Stroke of Insight ", Jill Bolte Taylor begins chapter eighteen by saying, "My good friend Dr. Jerry Jesseph lives his life by the philosophy 'Peacefulness should be the place we begin rather than the place we try to achieve.' " Lately, especially with all the clamor on health care, I've been thinking along those lines in regards to our physical bodies: normal should be the place we begin, rather than the place we try to achieve. I'm not looking to reach " astounding limits of endurance ", I just don't want normal to be the destination or the limit.
The implications certainly have my attention, especially when you look at a list of what's considered to be normal aging . If we truly live the reality of what we expect, it may be worth the time to draw up our own list of what is normal and let that be the place to begin.
