Krishna Das/Ram Dass Live Event and Saving Yoga's Soul

Posted Nov 28 2010 8:23pm

I'm enjoying some quiet un-plugged time for a week or so. That's my way of celebrating the holiday. Okay, I'm not 100% un-plugged, but I'm close. So, in the interest of keeping my computer time brief, I'll get right to the few things that caught my interest today:

November 30th Live Online Event

Liiv.com is sponsoring a live event featuring Krishna Das and Ram Dass this Tuesday, November 30 at 7:00PM EST. The event will include a Krishna Das concert, a talk with Ram Dass, and a movie chronicling Ram Dass' journey from his classic book, Be Here Now , to his new book, Be Love Now . Saving Yoga's Soul

Even though religion and yoga aren't interwined, are we doing a disservice to yoga by ignoring Hinduism's influence on the practice? The Hindu American Foundation is waging a "Take Back Yoga" campaign in the hopes of raising awareness of yoga's debt to Hindu's ancient traditions. You can read more about it in the NY Times . What do you think, all? Have we lost sight of one of the biggest influences on yoga or is this just another attempt to own yoga?

I hope that the gratitude glow of the holiday is still with you. I'll be back online late next week.

Namaste!
