Head Stands

Posted by sheryl w.

I have finally learned how to do a headstand without the need for the wall. I realised that so much of it was my fear, and that I really haven't needed a wall for a long time.

I also learned that the shoulders must be engaged, and so must the bandas. The bandas are points in the groin and belly which are contracted during yoga for support and other energetic benefits.

I don't use a wall for headstand but I often have something behind me to fall onto (like the couch)...even though I never use it. I wonder, however, whether anyone has fallen backwards and if they've hurt themselves.
