There has never been an activity that made me feel better than yoga does. I don’t know if it’s just because I’m using my body, stretching it and moving it in ways that feel elegant, or if it’s just the nature of yoga. I have found a place for my flexibility to take center stage. I have found a place to let go of everything in my daily life. I have found a place to breathe.
Oh, the breath. I love the moments in which my body finds that yoga breath I strive to perfect, the moments in which my diaphragm is working harmoniously with my body. A background in singing has helped me to develop my ability to breathe deeply but a rib with a tendency to act like an escape artist has held me back. But those moments! Those moments when my rib is in place (chiropractic assistance, thank you!) and I’ve found my rhythm are like no other.
A simple movement, the use of muscle, the flow of breath. That is my yoga experience.
