Eddie Stern's Ashtanga Shala NY in Soho is also the location of the Broome St. Temple . It has 3 shrines , each dedicated to Sri Sri Radha Damodara ( shown on the left ) , Sri Abhayankara Ganapati & Sri Mahadeva.
The goal of the Broome St. Temple is to engage in the following endeavors : to preserve traditional lineages , to encourage knowledge , charity & devotion within ourselves , as well as in fellow human beings.
I was able to visit the temple last Wed. nite after a long day of meetings in Manhattan & Williamsburg. It was great to meet Eddie Stern & his mischievous son & extend the best regards of my teacher. And as Eddie said to me , " We have a program this evening . "
Which turned out to be the weekly Wed nite. Bhakti Sangha discussion led by Rasanath. I was able to sit in and listen to him speak vividly about the lilas of Krishna & Yashoda in Vrindavan. It was fascinating & transporting to also hear the commentaries of fellow attendees who had just returned from India.
The Bhakti Sanga at the Broome St. Temple is held every Wed. nite ; 6:30 to 8 PM.
Hampton Chutney & Balthazar are close by as well . Have a dosa then cap it off with a raspberry financier if Balthazar's bakery is still open.
