The Southeastern US was hit by an artic blast this week. It was pretty strange to leave LA in a very un-winterly 80 degrees and fly into an unseasonably freezing Atlanta. There were several public fountains in the Buckhead area which had frozen over ; and the traffic was at a snails pace as slick ice patches formed on the roadways.
Thanks to pranayama and drishti , I was able to plow through the "dharma" of work , being the best & not losing my cool.
The biggest challenge to me was the scourge of the on-board roller bags. People, I know it is a hassle to claim luggage at the carousel , regardless of the state of an airport. However, in order to co-exist , it is NOT COOL to pack & bring more than what the overhead bin can contain. And if you can't pull it out yourself , just wait until your fellow travelers have cleared the aisles so they can make their connections instead of being an inconsiderate space hog.
So all this "witnessing" can cause a bit of callousness , almost to the point of being frozen emotionally. I felt it physically as well when I returned to SaMo & practiced at Jorgen's led class. My body was not responding & flowing in certain asanas . It was a great opportunity to finally sweat all the residue out , re-connect & imbibe this seasoned teacher's inner strength , warmth & calm.
** I am also being asked by fellow practitioners as to what Sri Dharma Mittra is really like , as the anticipation starts to build prior to his Exhale visit. My reponse is : " Sri Dharma is a gentle guy , genuinely kind & humble but with amazing light & wisdom. He walks the walk ." In this age of wanna-be supastah instructors , Sri DM is for reals. Hari Om .
