Pratyahara ( retraction of the senses or inner focus ) is the fifth limb of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. To quote the sage, the ultimate aim of every form of yoga is : " Yoga chitta vrtti nirodha " - To still the chatter of the mind and find peace -
This is a reflection on a previous post this week re yoga etiquette. As I lay on my back in anticipation of Ashley Turner's class last night, it seemed like there was a hive of bees buzzing with chatasana in the studio background.
Ashley intuitively began class with a discourse on pratyahara and its relevance to a modern & neophyte practitioner.
As the vinyasas began, it also appeared that the first 3 rows were comprised of mostly yogis. Perhaps inadvertently creating a soundwall to all the chatasana .
But then again, who wouldn't want to be close to Ashley-ji's shakti ?
