A Sucker for "Cool" Yoga

Posted by Heather J.

Look up "gullible" in the dictionary and you'll find a picture of lil' ol' me, the one who just had to find out about a new yoga franchise. On a trip out of town, I picked up a local weekly that ran an article about a new yoga studio called "Yoga/Zero" that had opened up in a trendy part of town. The tag line read, "Yoga/Zero so cold, it's hot!" The article stated, "Yoga/Zero began in Point Reyes, Calif., as a reaction against hot yoga. While not literally at a temperature of zero, the studios all feature a large refrigerator compartment that is used as an exercise room?Yoga/Zero students typically wear large goose-down coats and pants and perform their yoga positions on heated mats." Yoga/Zero purportedly had several locations in California, including several in San Francisco. Curious, I googled backwards and forwards to find out where I could find a Yoga/Zero studio so that I could learn more about this crazy idea. Turns out, the original article, I realized later, was part of a regular column called "The Fabricator." The whole thing was a big joke. On me. Doh! Maybe I spent too much time in the Bikram studio that week?
