The reason for swelling could be the onset of arthiritis in some cases..could also indicate water retention in the body..Best would be to contact your family physician.Standing for long hours also leads to swelling in the feet.

My feet swell also at times...right now my right foot is swollen and it hurts on the inside bone on my ankle when I move it. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

i wanted to see if you ever found out anything. i am a 23 year old female and have the same symptoms as you, im just not sure if i could have arthritis at my age.
Hi Dana, I would make an appointment to get checked out by a specialist - a rheumatologist. Sounds like you have some symptoms of arthritis, but you won't know until a doctor sees you. He/she will ask about your swelling and stiffness (how long it lasts, is it symetrical) and will also probably do a blood test. If it is arthritis, it is best to start treatment right away so that you don't lose any mobility and / or don't experience any joint damage. Don't mean to scare you, but it's always a good idea to get perstistent symptoms checked out by a doc so that you can get a hold of the problem and treat it as soon as possible. Be well, Sheryl
