Which Alcoholic Drinks Have Less Calories and Carbs?

Summer time is the time for picnics, barbeques, parties and happy hours. But if you are watching your weight, are there any alcoholic beverages that are appropriate? Alcohol, in general, is not great for weight, it adds empty calories, carbs and does slow down the metabolism. However, moderate alcohol intake along with a healthy diet and exercise can help you manage your weight. The key is to drink low calorie/low carb beverages and watch portions and the number of servings. Here are a few examples:

Miller Lite -96 calories, 4 g carbs

New Belgium Skinny Dip Beer  12 oz 114 cals 7 g carbs

Wine spritzer 2 oz wine and 5 oz club soda - 45 cals., 2 g carbs.

Wine -4oz. 103 calories, 4 g. carbs

Remember the sweet frozen drinks like pina coladas, strawberry margaritas, daquiris, and the like can have up to 600 calories per drink and 40-50 g of carbs. Be- ware of your selections.
