Sounds like you're trying to find out about a D&C (dilation & currettage) vs endometrial ablation. The latter is a permanent method of stopping your menses. The former is a way to figure out why you're bleeding (presumably either heavy and/or irregular or post-menopausally), although it could be used as a temporizing method to quickly stop your bleeding.
I'm not a gynecologist so I would suggest that you ask yours or whoever is suggesting that you undergo the procedure. Make sure you understand why that particular procedure is being used and what to expect as well as side effects. Good luck!
