Product Review: An Inexpensive Natural Face Wash That Works

Posted Jul 06 2012 9:00am

For years, I was a loyal customer of a popular “dermatologist recommended” drugstore brand of face wash and creams.  Their products were gentle on my sensitive and breakout prone skin, and they were wallet friendly and widely available.  I was thrilled to have finally found skin care products that worked, and I didn’t think I would ever switch my routine.  When I became more ingredient savvy , I was dismayed to learn that the products that I so loved had parabens and fragrances.  Mon Dieu!  What’s a girl to do?

I hit the ground running.  I tried expensive natural face washes that made me break out and dried out my skin (a complete oxymoron).  I tried making my own face wash (Yes, I know).  I tried washing my face with olive oil (which smelled delicious but stained my pillowcases – I wanted to be green, but not literally).  Finally after this not so fun trial and error,  derma e  entered my life.  This cruelty free and eco-friendly skin care line has all natural ingredients.  No parabens.  No creepy “trade secret” fragrances .  It sounded like unicorns and butterflies, but would it actually work?

I tried derma e Vitamin A Glycolic Cleanser for a few weeks and held my breath.  And the verdict?  Love.  It’s gentle.  It has a pleasant aroma. My skin is clean, not dry, and clear.  It only costs $13.  High five.

And now I don’t have to be green. Which isn’t easy – just ask Kermit.
