Our NYS Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence Hard at Work...
Posted Sep 30 2010 12:00am
I am posting a letter from the OPDV to a victim that is in need and having trouble navigating through the judicial system in place. I will hold back on saying anything more on this issue, instead I will post the letter as it is and let my readers make their own judgements. Having said that, I, too, have tried and tried to get help from the NYS OPDV when I was struggling through the system.
I am the Victim Resource Coordinator at the Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence. I am responding to your request to speak to our Executive Director. We have spoken on numerous occasions about your frustrations with the court systems. Unfortunately, as I have explained previously, our office is unable to address your concerns. Additionally, I have identified local resources within your community to assist you in getting your needs addressed. At this point I do not believe that our Office can assist you any further. Good luck on your quest for change in the workings of the judicial system.
