Nobody every talks about it...Taboo Topics

Posted Feb 11 2011 4:02pm

Have you ever gone to the doctor convinced you were finally going to ask about that taboo topic only to chicken out in the end when asked, "do you have any more questions?" Is there something you are too embarrassed to talk about? Is there something that you need to know but ... nice girls don't talk about these things in polite company. While you might be too embarrassed to mention the unmentionable, your professional health care provider shouldn't be. Who else are you going to talk to? Even though you may feel alone, you are not the only person with these questions.

So what are taboo topics? What are women afraid to admit? What do women long to know but are afraid to ask about?

Leaky lady (Urinary leakage)
  • I leak on the way to the bathroom. Is that because I'm getting older? I'm not that old!
  • I just have to go to the bathroom all the time. I must have a small bladder? Do I?
  • I have to go the bathroom several times a night. I don't want to go on a trip, I'll just disturb people.
  • I don't want to go visit family, I'm afraid I'll have an accident.
  • My gym clothes are soaked with more than sweat.
Opps-_hit! (Fecal Incontinence)
  • I found staining in my underwear, could it be...
  • When I have to go, I have to go now! I almost don't make it!
Something else is going south (Prolapse)
  • Something's falling out!
  • I feel like I'm sitting on something-what is it?
  • Cystocele, rectocele, what the heck is that?
It's dry down there (Vaginal Dryness)
  • It hurts/itches, is that normal?
  • I've turned into the Sahara Desert, now what?
Bothered in the bedroom?
  • The flame is flickering... I just don't feel like it anymore...
  • I want to but it HURTS!
  • I think I might sometimes leak urine during sex? Is there anything I can do?
All of these concerns should be discussed with your professional health care provider.
In the upcoming weeks, we'll talk about these taboo topics, offer some answers for your questions and hope to embolden you to ask about your own taboo topics.

More later on taboo topics
