A new French study recently released show that some sunlight and supplementation with vitamin D is effective in reducing the risk of contracting breast cancer.
There have been several other studies that have indicated vitamin D levels can reduce the risk of some cancers including breast cancer. Experts have been split on weather it is more advisable to get vitamin D through sunlight or by orally taking this very affordable supplement.
This new study was published in the Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention. They looked at more than 67,000 postmenopausal women for a 10 year period. They found that women from this group who lived in sunny climates and had a high intake of vitamin D either from diet or by supplementation showed a significantly reduced risk of developing breast cancer. This was in contrast to women who also lived in sunny areas with a low intake of this important vitamin who did not show this reduced risk.
