I usually don’t buy health food snacks because they are generally overpriced and not always actually healthy. But there are days when I don’t have time to make my own juice, pack my own lunch, or chop veggies for a stir fry.
Steve and I are flying to LA this weekend to look for an apartment, and I’ve been running around to try to get everything done before I leave. Pack a bag for Bea ( who is having a sleepover with our dog walker ). Chores. Laundry. Organizing the apartment hunt. It all had to be done pre-flight. We’ll be there for 3 days and we plan to see as many apartments as possible. So this week, cooking has not been my top priority and my empty refrigerator looks so sad – seemingly asking me “Remember when you used to make snacks?”
Needing some pre-flight snacks, I wandered through my favorite natural food market trying to find something that was good and good for me. I saw New York Naturals Kale Chips in vegan “cheese” flavor and was intrigued. I find fake cheese to be like a toxic boyfriend – no matter how many times I’ve been burned in the past, I keep trying to make it work.
These kale chips are DELICIOUS. I’m amazed how crispy they are without being fried or baked. This is the best fake cheese flavored anything I’ve ever had. And that’s saying a lot from me .
Ingredients: kale, red bell pepper, cashews, sunflower seeds, nutritional yeast, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and sea salt.
