Finding a face wash that isn’t loaded with hard to pronounce chemicals is nearly impossible these days. While I have found some store bought cleansers that rate well, there are days when I just want to give my skin a break.
This is a recipe my mom and grandma used to make with me when we did at home spa days. My grandma and my mom both went to beauty school and I always loved mixing things up in the kitchen and trying them out.
Oatmeal Face Wash – the oatmeal helps to gently exfoliate your skin and clear clogged pores. The honey has antibacterial properties helping to cleans the skin and the almond milk is soothing to the skin and leaves it feeling clean and soft. I don’t think I’ll get my boys to try this, but if you have girls at home, this wash is gentle enough to share with them and keeps well in the fridge for about 5 days.
1 cup organic Almond milk (my mom used regular milk, but I prefer almond – you can use either)
1/2 cup organic whole rolled oats
1 tablespoon dark honey (I used clover)
Mix almond milk, oats and honey in a food processor or blender. Blend until creamy. Gently massage a few tablespoons of the final mix into your skin and rinse well with warm water. Pour the leftover cleanser into a clean glass jar and seal with a lid. Store in the fridge for up to 5 days and use daily.
That’s it. Three simple ingredients to a natural, organic face wash that’s great for all skin types.
