Let' s face it, when we hear the word goal it sounds like work, a chore, something definitely not fun. Yet, we all need touchstones, guide rails, if you will, that we can use to measure our progress through life. So, if you' re allergic to the word "goal," have an intolerance to it, or it just seems to sap you of energy, use a different word. Try intention, desire, something I want, or gotta have, you get the picture, make it work for you. Once you nail this down, open the ole' Life Vision Balance Wheel, and pick a Life Area or two. Now, think about what you want to manifest in this area (make sure you keep the vision of your older/wiser self in mind) and write down a mini-vision for this Life Area. For example, on my Life Vision Balance Wheel I picked the Life Area of Health. I visualize my vibrant energetic older self and write down my mini-vision of a 10 lb lighter Chris. So, my 30 day goal becomes one hour of aerobic exercise for the next 30 days. I use stickk.com to help track my progress and for support. See how it works? Use small steps. We have a tendency to supersize our goals, which leads to overwhelm, discouragement and poor follow-through. So, keep the steps small and be consistent.
Saner Living Vision Tip:
If you do 2 or 3 things everyday to move your life forward in one life area, at the end of 30 days you will have done between 60 and 90 new behaviors that moves you toward your best self. And that' s only one life area. Imagine if you are working on 2 or 3 life areas!
