As I progress in my clinical hours as a student midwife, I am finding that I am
Able to think and process information comprehensively, formulating potential plans of care/options (ex: pulling out risk factors antepartally, and developing screening plans for possible early detection/interventions)
Working on my own "spiels" for teaching in the antepartum setting
Learning something new each and every day, oftentimes with each patient
Becoming more independent and confident in my ability to teach/educate/perform specific tasks
Needing much more practice on speculum exams and microscopy slide reading
Enjoying the office setting more than I initially felt!
Wishing that much more time was scheduled for new antepartum visits, and routine antepartum visits. The sheer volume of information that needs to be covered in an initial OB visit is humongous!!
