TWSHF recently responded to an article at the LA Times that addressed a piece published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine: A Woman’s History of Vaginal Orgasm is Discernible from Her Walk. We believed that a response was called for by TWSHF based on comments from women that we received and with the assistance of our professional experts on our Advisory Board we wanted to help the public understand that the journal article did not have the strength of science behind it.
Specifically we stated at the LA Times the following.
The Women’s Sexual Health Foundation believes that a woman’s sexual health should be taken seriously and treated as a legitimate concern.
It is our mission to advance valid and appropriate scientific information to the public and professional community.
When we see articles such as A Woman’s History of Vaginal Orgasm is Discernible from Her Walk addressed in the LA Times, we believe it is important to make your readers aware of the following.
The article was not strongly based in science and had many flaws, including that it did not represent the population at large specific to women who have sexual health difficulties.
