is it okay to quit taking methotrexate cold turkey?

Posted by sennalyn

I've been taking methotrexate for my iritis for about 10 months. It's not curing the iritis and I don't like how I feel (sick and dizzy) when I take it. I have also been terrified about what it's doing to my liver even though I'm not drinking alcohol (monthly blood tests show liver is okay, but I'm still scared). I'm seeing a new eye doctor about the iritis in a few weeks and want to quit the methotrexate. I'm taking 20 mg/week (8 2.5 mg tablets). Is it okay to just stop taking it cold turkey? Since I don't have RA or anything like that there's nothing to "flare up"; I just want to make sure it won't affect my kidneys or liver.
