is it ok to switch birth control pills from one day to the next

I have been on Loestrin 24 for a year and I'm am out, a friend of mine gave me sample packs of Ortho, because I don't have insurance right now. Just wondering if I could just swith or if I need to wait a few days for the loestrin to get out of my system.
