There are many reasons for developing sores inside one's mouth, both viral & bacterial. However, if you recently suffered from a bad cold, typically viral in nature, it's possible that you may now be suffering from cold sores or fever blisters. These are typically due to herpes simplex virus. Supportive care is the usual treatment although antivirals are sometimes used if the infection is caught early enough. Even then, the antivirals (not antibiotics) will only shorten the expected duration by a day or so. Topical numbing agents that are available at your grocery store may make the sores more tolerable as you slowly heal. Good luck!
