How do you deal with diet fatigue? Diet fatigue in simple words is when you are tired of being on a “diet”. Have you experienced that situation when you have been on a diet for while and are just tired of watching everything you eat? Does this happen often? Yes, it can if you look at your life as always being on a “diet”. It can lower your motivation, slow down your progress and lead to yo-yoing. I have been helping patients for years to lose or maintain their weight and there is a way to succeed. If you need to lose weight, don’t put yourself on a diet. Put yourself though a lifestyle change. With a lifestyle change you need to work your body to optimize weight loss. That means not only manage your food intake, but exercise/activity, metabolism and overall physical and mental health. Adding one good habit every week to incorporate into your life long-term can make the difference in your life and your weight. For example, I tell my patients there are no foods that are off-limits. So if you want ice cream, have it, but the portion should be controlled and you should counteract those calories with activity so they can be burned off. That way you can have whatever you want and not feel deprived. More information on the subject can be found the Stress Eater Diet book.
