Effexor XR to blame for high cholesterol?

Posted by jasmineelizabethr

I'm 21 years old- 5'6 and 125lbs. I recently went in to have my blood tested, everything came back healthy except my cholesterol. My total cholesterol is 222, LDL was 160, and HDL was 52, Triglycerides were 48- I was a little concerned as I have a VERY healthy lifestyle- I already watch the type of foods I eat- drink more than 2 litres of water a day and exercise. High cholesterol doesn't run in my family- So the only thing i could come up with was maybe my effexor xr  I take (37.5mg) is to blame? Would this in itself be enough of a reason to stop taking this drug? Or am I okay to continue taking it? I've been on it for 5 years due to depression and panic disorder and feel "normal" again. Are these levels dangerous?? Thanks!
