Maybe. Cushing's disease refers to a pituitary tumor that leads to excess ACTH or adrenocorticotrophic hormone. Cushing's syndrome refers to a situation of excess cortisol. One cause of this is excess ACTH from Cushing's disease. However, Cushing's syndrome can also be caused by an adrenal tumor releasing excess cortisol by itself. So yes, Cushing's syndrome could return from an alternative pathway as pointed out above. Or course, if the whole tumor wasn't removed, Cushing's syndrome could return. If you're worried, go talk w/your family doctor. Good luck!
