From a Chinese herbal point of view, women have a different energy pattern, or Jing, than men. A woman’s unique energy pattern includes constant fluctuations in qi/energy levels and blood flow due to normal menstrual cycles and, ultimately, menopause. These energy imbalances may be associated with normal symptoms of discomfort from regular menstrual cycles, including premenstrual syndrome (PMS), irritation and hot flashes.
