It' s an uncertain time in the United States; the changes in our country are scary, confusing and maddening. Structures are breaking down, corporate leadership seems to be at an all time low and it can be hard to feel good about a positive outcome. Change is often brought about by crisis and a natural reaction is to feel paralyzed and powerless. As a result, I have been spending much brain power thinking about change; what it means, how people respond and how to use change points as opportunities for growth.
A few things I understand about change:
The only person you can change is yourself
Old systems break down and new ones are created
It is scary
Support is important
Thinking positive helps
No matter what, build in fun
Staying focused on what you want brings about the ' right' change
Sometimes the ' right' change is not what we expected
What are you doing to stay saner during this time of incredible change?
Here are some ideas:
Go for a walk
Watch a movie
Cook with friends
Take in some Art
Listen to Music
Enjoy Nature
Meditate
Take a yoga class
Go for a bike ride
Exercise
Love well
Let yourself cry
Keep a journal
Tell the negative thoughts to GO AWAY!
Make small goals and work them
Often times we look for big solutions to big problems and what we find is that small steps and positive self-care is the antidote we need.
