Cellulite Treatment Methods & Information

Posted Aug 24 2009 1:03pm

Many people have often times been confused with what to do about cellulite.  Cellulite is the lumpy substance that resembes cottage cheese that is commonly found on the thighs, stomach, and butt. Cellulite is actually a fancy name for collections of fat that push against the connective tissue beneath a person's skin, which causes the surface of the skin to dimple and look lumpy, as some people say.

As cellulite is estimated to be affecting 95% of women (wow), there has to be some ways to treat it, right?  Well, there are, but none will actually get rid of it forever.  Here are some common treatments for cellulite, and at the end of the article I will give my two cents on what I think people should do to treat cellulite.

Cellulite massages have become popular in high end spa's and other self-care centers.  A cellulite massage is one method of making cellulite reduced in appearance, but that's basically all it does.  If you are looking to get rid of cellulite for "a period of time" then I would say a massage is a quick way to do this.  However,  this is not therapeutic and long-term results cannot be expected.

Laser therapy has been another common cellulite treatment.  Although it is painful, expensive, and hard to find, it DOES work.  Ask your physician if this is something you should persue, as it's not for everyone.

The last method to reduce cellulite is to use the best cellulite cream you can find, and use it religiously.  Cellulite creams, especially those with high profile scientific ingredients, can be a big help in getting rid of cellulite.

For my money, I do a combination of a cellulite massage, and then immediately following up that by applying a cellulite cream.  Cellulite creams have grown in popularity, and I think they are here to stay.
