Celebrating Recovery: Recovery Month Events in Maine, September 2011

September is National Recovery Month. As the website states, “Recovery Month spreads the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover.”

Since we’re already in mid-August, it’s about time to start gearing up for the many recovery events around the country. Here what’s going on in Maine:

Wednesday, September 7
4th Annual BARCC Recovery Summit
where + when: Brewer Auditorium 8:30am – 3pm

Saturday, September 10
2nd Annual Walk for Recovery
where + when: Walk starts at Catholic Charities Counseling Services, Portland; registration at 9:30am
presented by: Catholic Charities of Maine , Crossroads for Women , Day One , Milestone Foundation and Serenity House

3rd Annual MAAR Recovery Retreat
where + when: University of Maine, Augusta 9am – 2pm, optional yoga/meditation at 8am
presented by: Maine Alliance for Addiction Recovery and Maine Recovery Communities Coalition

Saturday, September 24
Motorcycle Rally for Recovery
where + when: from Bangor to Augusta, starting at Bangor Waterfront 10am
presented by: Bangor Area Recovery Network, Inc.

Recovery and Wellness Resource Fair
