Can a physical trauma send you into post-menapausal hormone levels?

I fell from a chair onto concrete and fractured my sacrum in two different places. I was having regular periods (every month no heavy bleeding) until I fell. I noticed 1 and half months after I fell I didn't get my period. I assumed it was due to stress from the fall. A blood test was given (they didn't check my estrogen level) and the progesterone indicated I was at a postmenapausal level. I was only 44 at the time and have not had a period since. I do not experience hot flashes or other menapause symptoms. I recently switched doctors and was informed my estrogen was not menapausal. Also, one year into this my uterine lining was as thin as a 70 year olds and now two years later with a normal estrogen level I have osteopenia. In addition I've gained 35 pounds in two years.
Any thoughts about this situation.
