Let’s talk about foods that are healthy but not necessarily low calorie and good for weight loss. That means eating a lot of these foods is not good if you are looking to lose weight. Fruit is a great example, it contains sugar and carbs no matter what you choose. The sugar in fruit is called fructose and it is deposited to fat within four hours of eating it. That’s right, four hours, that is quicker than table sugar! That is not to say that you can’t eat fruit, it just means you need to keep portions moderate and you need to do some activity after eating it to burn off the carbs. Dried fruits are worse because the sugar is concentrated. Portions should be moderate like a ¼ cup, which have a bout 200 calories per serving, not bags of dried fruit as we purchase in the stores. If you ate the whole bag of dried fruit at a sitting, you would take in 600-900 calories.
