Jason is right about VO2 max, and that if your body doesn't get enough oxygen your muscles... more. Then the pain comes in your side, and often times this is lactic acid building up in that muscle, which happens...
Go see your family doctor! S/he is trained to evaluate the cause of your pain and treat it. You can probably safely ignore occasional pain but if it persists and affects your sleep, it's time to get checked

Pain in the right lower quadrant is classic for appendicitis but that isn't usually associated... under the skin. If the former is indeed correct, the rash & pain could be due to zoster or reactivated...
