It's probably a cyst, infection or other condition. Most soft tissue masses are benign, not to worry. You might request your doctor to prescribe imaging that can be done with plain films or CT scans. 
does it hurt? i have the same thing and mine hurts If it is a soft lump just under the skin chances the symptom are it will be a lipoma. However, if it is hard then one needs to have it assessed
