Understanding What it Means to Have a High Blood Sugar
About a month ago I had my first endocrinologist appointment since well before Mateo was born.  During the pregnancies, my perinatologist (high-risk OB) took care of all of my diabetes management with a focus on tightly controlled blood sugars.   In the weeks leading up to the endo appointment, I'd had a couple...crap

Growth Hormones May Affect Your Diabetes Numbers
We returned from Missouri with Annie’s numbers very high, so we went to see the endocrinologist. Of course, the minute we made the appointment, her numbers went back to normal, but we went anyway. It turns out we weren’t doing anything wrong – diet, exercise, new insulin in case it had gone bad...crap

I saw an endocrinologist for two years with chief complaint of elevated PHL and vitamin D deficiency.  I also had progressive osteoporosis.  For two years I was placed on a high dose of Vitamin D with bloodwork done about every 3-4 months to check my PHL which always was high.  This doctor told me no need...crap

I am a type 2 diabetic who currently takes 2 shots of insulin a day. Could I take Byetta?
My endocrinologist and internist are very resistant to changing anything about my regimen. They just keep sending me to a nutitionist who tells me to eat lots of whole grains and carb and walk 1/2 hour a day. After I reduced my carb intake I have lost 20 pounds and reduced my A1C from 11 to 8. Should I even bother to ask...crap

Vitamin D
My endocrinologist found me deficient in Vitamin D, so he got me a bottle of 1000 mg pills of Vitamin D.  I figured that was it.  A round of blood tests a year later still showed me deficient in Vitamin D.  Now the best way to get Vitamin D is often by sun exposure.  However, since I also have lupus...crap
