How do I treat a surgical wound that the staples pulled away from one side?
I had surgery 10 days ago and the staples pulled away from one side of the incision and had to go into er where they put paper sutures and when I went to the doctors a few days later the paper sutures were not holding either. So, now I have a gapping wound that is healing from the inside...crap

Hi,I was removing staples from a patients scalp laceration. I was using gloves. One of the staples wouldn't drop off the tool, so I nudged it with my finger. Dr Bob, can you please answer this for me? If an Hiv+ person sits on a chair and gets punctured by a staple protruding from the chair causing him to bleed and i sit on that same chair 5 minutes later and get punctured by the same staple or pin or whatever, am I at any risk of becoming infected?
