Axert also stops neck/shoulder pain....what does this mean?

I can't sleep. My neck hurts really bad so does the back of my head. It's much worse when lying down.  I have muscle spasms and high levels of muscle tension throughout my entire body, even my face and scalp. I beleive that I've started choking. I had an MRI due to neck and back pain, It showed degenerative disc disease at multiple levels with disc bulging, neural foraminal stenosis and a small right paracentral protrusion at C4-C5 as well.... what do you think my recovery time would be for this type of injury or will I alway have some kind of pain problem...crap
