diabetes introduction Introduction to Walk-a-thon

A walk-a-thon refers to any organized walk. Most walk-at-hons are organized by charity organizations and participants are asked to raise sponsorship funds on behalf of that charity or cause. Walkathons are generally low intensity and not competitive in nature, focused on more on the experience of the walk, and the charity organization. Some of the most popular walkathons include the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, AIDS walk, MS Challenge Walk, and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

Benefits

Walk-a-thons provide a great motivation for getting into a regular walking routine, and usually offer a great sense of community. Walking regularly helps to relieve stress, build endurance and strength, and is an excellent way to keep your heart and lungs healthy.
