There are many symptoms of SLE. Rarely do two people have the same symptoms, the most common ones include:
- joint aches and pains, swollen joints,
- headaches, migraine or seizures,
- a permanent red, butterfly-shaped rash on the nose and cheeks. The skin may have an increased sensitivity to sunlight, causing skin rashes,
- kidney problems,
- fatigue and weakness,
- mouth ulcers,
- hair loss,
- anxiety and depression,
- fevers and night sweats,
- inflammation of the membranes covering internal organs, with associated chest and abdominal pain and shortness of breath,
- anemia, and
- neurological disorders, caused by inflammation of the brain.
