Your weight loss challenge pros and cons

Are you ambivalent about your weight loss challenge? Do you want to convince yourself you need to change with regard to your overeating and weight problem?

The psychology of self change is complicated, but an important factor in pushing you over to making a decision to meet the weight loss challenge is considering the pros and cons.

Make a list of pros and cons.

For example:

            Overeating and Being Overweight


  • Helps me control anxiety
  • Helps me dull feelings
  • Protects me from sexual advances


  • I hate the way I look
  • I hate the way I feel
  • It hurts my self esteem

You will have your own personal pros and cons.

While it is not easy to overcome this ambivalence you have about your weight problem, if you deal with it, it will increase your weight loss motivation.

So, when you think about losing weight, you need to admit what weight gain and overeating do for you, not just how bad they are for you.
