I had really piled on the weight after my second pregnancy. Because it was a caesarian (c-section), I could not start exercising immediately. But I am very happy to say that as my baby completes one year, I have lost 22 pounds that I had gained. I know I need to lose some more. But it's nice when you are able to slip back into the once-tight dresses. Regular walking (45 minutes, around 5 times a week) really helped me to shed the weight!
That's fantastic - good for you!
I had a friend who lost a lot of her pregnancy weight from breast feeding and running around, taking care of the kid. (Doesn't everyone wish it were that easy!) For most new moms, losing weight can be very difficult. If you aren't breast feeding, some of those "easy" pounds end up staying on. Or, if you are too tired from the unusual sleep schedule of a new baby, the prospect of actually working out is completely daunting. Not to mention the fact that your body has gone through a drastic change and regular working out simply may not be as easy as it once was. Your method of 45 minutes of easy cardio 5 days a week is an excellent one. Although it won't cause anyone to lose a rapid amount, this slow and steady method will certainly melt those pounds away over time. Great work!
Thank you for sharing your inspirational story. It is easy to lose yourself in the process of taking care of a new child and not make the time to get healthy right away. I used to walk my kids in a double jogger stroller at night. It helped them settle down and get some fresh air which seemed to help them sleep. As they got a little older our nighttime stroller walks gave us time to talk about what we saw around us. Good for you!!! You'll be ready to start a second pregnancy here soon! lol
I have not had a baby, but I have a few pounds to shed and it's great to know that you can really lose the weight from walking. Sometimes it's hard to get to the gym, but walking around the neighborhood is relaxing. And congrats on the weight loss!
