Takeru Kobayashi, the six-time hot dog eating world champion from Nagano, Japan was finally defeated this 4th of July. Joey Chestnut is the first American to win the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating since 1999 and to bring back the Mustard Yellow Belt. The final score was a close 66 to 63, Chestnut.
Hot dog eating contests are just incredible. Can you imagine eating 12 hot dogs and buns for dinner? I think I’d explode. Yet these “professional athletes” can eat over 60 dogs in 12 minutes! I’ve always admired people who can eat more than me, especially those that are able to stay in shape. Even though Kobayashi lost this year, he’s still my hero because of his perfect six pack.
