Weight loss and psychology of lapses

Posted Apr 11 2009 12:55am

by Maria's Last Diet

Instead of counting each dieting lapse as a failure, try not making the goal of "not lapsing" an all-or-none matter. For example, make the goal be the number of lapses over a period of time, like number of lapses in a week or in a month. This makes occasional failures that occur in your weight loss effort more acceptable. It makes you feel less pressured, and it preserves your belief in yourself as a good dieter. Preserving this belief in yourself as capable of meeting the weight loss challenges is a key element in achieving your weight loss goal.
