I was recently at a seminar about foods and alkalinity--the person leading the seminar asserted that alkaline foods help clean the blood and are therefore the most health-promoting kinds of foods you can possibly eat. She mentioned that avocadoes are especially good, because they are both cleansing and promote weight loss. Has anyone else heard this? I always thought avocadoes were high in fat so shouldn't be eaten in excess (she said you could eat several per day).
Did she have any research to back this up? I've also heard that avocadoes were high in fat and they should be consumed in moderation. If you find out that there is anything to back up her statements I'd like to know about it.
