Weigh Down Workshop?

Posted by Kristen D.

Apparently, the newest weight-loss buzz is the Weigh Down Workshop, a faith-based weight loss program. I'm doing some research now, but my computer's not cooperating with video. What do you all know, and think, about it? I'll keep you posted with what I find out.

So far.... Still having video trouble, but from what I've read it seems as if Weigh Down focuses on a person turning to God to help them lose weight. I'm intrigued, but it also costs $199 to buy the video-money I can't very well spend right now. Is there anyone out there who uses this or knows someone who does? I'd be interested in hearing how this works. I read an article on CNN.com recently about the Sorrells-a couple that collectively lost, I believe, around 500 pounds through this program.
Maybe.... It makes sense, to a certain extent--not because I think that believing in God necessarily makes God bestow perfect health upon you (!) but because the power of belief can be really effective. For me, it's a mind over matter sort of thing. I believe that there have been studies around creative visualization that show when you have a concrete goal backed by the power of belief, you are more likely to reach that goal. I think that unconsciously, people on the program probably did more things to promote losing weight than they might have if they didn't have the power of their faith for support.
