Foods that claim to be fat free or low fat contain more carbohydrates, usually in the form of sugar.
When eating low fat products, we feel that we are eating low fat. So, there is a tendency to eat more than usual.
Low fat products are not as high in nutrients as food like grains, fruits, and vegetables. So we miss out on a lot of nutrients when consuming these products.
A way that works best for me is to eat the regular stuff at meals. And when I feel like snacking, then occasionally I go for the low fat substitute. For example, opting for a low fat ice cream.
