Today I finally got to the grocery store to buy the Ziploc Zip n’ Steam bags.
Usually for my lunch salads I buy Just Chicken from Trader Joe’s. It tastes good and is really convenient, but somewhat pricey at $5.99 per container. If I make salads every day for lunch, I can go through 1 1/2 of these containers. So I thought that it might be more economical and tastier if I bought my own Foster Farms chicken and cooked it in the Zip n’ Steam bags.
As soon as I got home with my boneless & skinless chicken tenders I started preparing the recipe I had in mind. I put about a tablespoon of olive oil on the chicken pieces and added a bit of the McCormick Grill Mates for Chicken seasoning. The directions on the bag say to be careful not to overlap the meat, so I made sure to lay each piece out. I sealed the bag and then set the microwave for 8 minutes.
The bag puffed up in the microwave, which worried me, but as soon as the power went off, it deflated. The aroma of the chicken was so good while it was cooking! The chicken came out beautifully. It was well cooked, but not overdone, moist and delicious. (I had to taste a small bite, just to see).
Half an hour later my kitchen still smells heavenly. This chicken is going to taste terrific in my salad tomorrow. I can’t wait to try it.
All in all, I think these bags are very easy to use and convenient. Definitely worth the money.
